Winona-Ryder

Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. The name was given to her by her parents after the town where she grew in. Michel Horowitz is her father, while Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder's dad came from a Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. She also has a half-sister, Sunyata Jubal. Ryder's younger sister is Uria. Ryder along with her whole family relocated to California's Mendocino County, when Ryder was seven. There was no electricity. The books on television were Ryder's only distraction for her time, and she became an avid reader. Ryder was 12 when she enrolled at the American Conservatory Theatre for acting classes in 1983. When she was fifteen, she landed her first part onscreen, playing Lucas. Ryder had to deal with bullying throughout her teenage years. Ryder believed that her future as an actor would be able to bring about change. Unfortunately that didn't come to be. But she pushed on with her dreams. Ryder made her breakthrough in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder was able to continue playing parts that proved successful in a variety of films. He was nominated for two Academy Awards were nominated, one for The Age of Innocence (1996).
